Find out if your building may be eligible for the J-51 Tax Abatement, which could help recover the cost of major green upgrades for your building.
The Green Co-op Council built this lookup tool using publicly available data. We are a group of co-op shareholders coming together to advocate for policies that can help green our homes, protect our environment, and save us money.
This is meant as an advisory resource and is not official City guidance. We can only determine whether your building is likely eligible based on the data available to us. Ultimately, eligibility will be determined by HPD and will depend on the capital improvements you wish to make. Please refer to HPD for more information and resources.
This lookup tool only includes NYC co-ops and condos. Rentals are not included in this data.
How to use the lookup tool
Use the search bar above the table to find your building. The search function is very sensitive, so here are some guidelines to help you find your property:
Type slowly. The table will update as you type. Keep your eye on the results.
Start by searching for your street name and building number only. Don't type your full street address.
Don’t use any abbreviations or punctuation (e.g., type “East” instead of “E” and “Avenue” instead of “Ave.”).
Exclude the ordinal indicator for numbered streets (e.g., the “st” in “1st”).
Capitalization will not affect your search.
Do: 115 East 10 Street
Don’t: 115 E 10th St., New York, NY 10003
If you’re having trouble finding your building, try these tips:
If your property has multiple street addresses, start by searching for the address with the lowest building number. If that doesn’t work, search for the building where your property’s bills are sent.
Search by zipcode. Type in your zipcode only and search for your property in the resulting list. Use the page navigator at the top right of the table to see more results.
Search for your building owner (co-ops only). This is a good way to find co-ops with multiple addresses.
